Joining Row Instructions
If you used the cast on two extra stitches and slip the first stitch of every row and knit the last stitch of every row, following the pattern between these stitches, join the strips of squares together as follows (in which ever order of strips you prefer) – Sl1, K43, K2tog, K2tog from next square, K43, K2tog, K2tog from next square K43, K2tog, K2tog from next square, K43, K2tog, K2 tog from next square, K to end (182 stitches). Then follow the pattern below, again slipping the first stitch and knitting the last stitch of every row, working the pattern between these stitches.
If you knitted the patterns without the extra stitches, just knit across all 4 strips (180 stitches)
If you cast off the square panels, cast on 180 stitches (or pick up 45 stitches along the top of each square – 180 stitches in total)
Sew together the seams between the strips as close to the edge as possible (I recommend using mattress stitch). Weave in any ends, and then block the afghan.
