Our latest free washcloth design again comes courtesy of Paul from Blackpool. Paul very kindly designed this wonderful pig square and allowed me to pop it up on daisyandstorm.com. Thank you so much, Paul!
This square would work great as a washcloth or dishcloth, or you could put it together with some of the other squares to make an afghan or blanket (all my squares are the same size). Finished square approximately 22 cm x 22 cm (8.5 inches x 8.5 inches)

Size and Materials
Size depends on yarn and needle size used – with DK/Light Worsted Weight yarn and 4 mm (US 6, UK 8) knitting needles, finished squares are approximately 22 cm x 22 cm (8.5 inches x 8.5 inches)
Any sized needle and yarn can be used (please refer to yarn label for recommended needle size), however different needle and yarn sizes will produce different sized squares, so if you plan to make an afghan or a set of these it is best to use the same needle size and yarn for each square.

Thank you so much for this lovely pig square. I’ll add it to my animal square blanket for charity.
Hi Ellison
Thank you for your kind comments. I never thought my designs would generate so much interest. I hope you enjoy knitting them.
Paul (Blackpool)
Thankyou for this lovely pattern I look forward to knitting it x it’s saved with your other wonderful patterns x
Thank you so much for the pattern and all of the previous patterns. I have become an ardent fan!
Good Morning,
This is regarding your Pig Washcloth. Can I use US Size 7 since I use Sugar n’Cream yarn?
Can I do 7 Rows of Garter stitch instead of K1, P1?
Thanks. and Hope to hear from you.
Hi Rita
I’m not familiar with Sugar’n’Cream yarn but I’m sure if you use the needles recommended for the yarn it should be good. You could do 7 rows of garter stitch instead, but I would then replace the first and last five stitches of every row with knit rather than k1, p1, k1, p1, k1 so that you have a garter stitch border all around. I find seed stitch (k1, p1) sits better, but of course you are welcome to use garter stitch if you wish.
Hello, I did not get an answer. I am very disappointed in your pattern because I don’t understand what to do in Rows 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
I wish you had spelled everything out.
Thanks.
Rows 2-7 are the same as row 1 – k the first stitch, p the second stitch, k the third stitch, p the fourth stitch and continue alternating between knit and purl. Each row will start and end with a knit stitch. This is called seed stitch. There is a tutorial on seed stitch here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb7iVDRaUa0
Thank you for the chance to be able to save some of these beautiful squares for me to experience different animal designs for me to knit up into a baby blanket or other.
